White balance
White balance is used to make colors in the image appear the same regardless of the color temperature of the light source. The Axis
product can be set to automatically identify the light source and compensate for its color. Alternatively, select the type of light
source from the drop -dow n list. For a description of each available s etting, see the online help
.
Wide Dynamic Range
Wide dynamic range can improve the exposure when there is a considerable contrast between light and dark areas in the image.
Exposure Settings
Congure the exposure settings to suit the image quality requirements in relation to lighting, frame rate and bandwidth
considerations.
Select Enable Backlight compensation if a bright spot of light, for example a light bulb, causes other areas in the image to appear
too dark.
The Exposure control setting is used to adapt to the amount of light used. Select one of the following modes:
Auto is the default settings and can be used in most situations. Shutter speed, Iris and Gain are auto m atically set to
produce optimum image appearance for different lighting situations.
Manual Shutter allows you to manually adjust the shutter speed. Iris a nd Gain a re set automatically.
Manual Iris allows you to m anually adjust the iris o pening in the lens. Shutter speed and Gain are set automatically.
Manual allows you to m anually adjust Shutter speed, Iris and Gain.
Shutter speed - A slower speed in dark conditions will help to produce a brighter image, but will produce fewer frames per second,
which may cause blurry images during motion.
Iris - A larger F-value means less light sensitivity, but a larger de pth of eld.
Gain - Measured in decibels (dB), gain describes the amount of amplication applied to a signal, in this case the visual information
in the image. A high level of amplication may p rovide a better image in very low light situations. A high gain will also increase
theamountofimagenoise.
Maxexposuretime-Increasingtheexposuretimewillimproveimagequality, but decrease the frame rate. There may also be
an increase in motion blur.
Max gain - Max gain limits the amount of gain that can be applied to the image in Exposure control modes with automatic
gain adjustment.
Exposure zones - This settings determines which part of the image is used to calculate the exposure. For most situations, the Auto
setting can be used. For particular requirem ent, select a predened area.
Image settings
Autofocus enabled - Automatic f ocusing is enabled by default. If the focus position is changed manually using the focus bar,
autofocus will be disabled even if enabled here. In this case, use the PTZ control panel to enable autofocus, see PTZ Controls, on page
8 . If required, the focus control can be disabled under PTZ > Advanced > Controls.
Noise reduction - Set to On to enable noise r eduction. Noise reduction may increase the amount of motion blur.
ImagefreezeonPTZ-Select All movements to freeze the image while the cam era is moving during a pan, tilt or zoom operation.
Once the camera reaches its new position, the view from that position is shown. Presets freezes the image only when the camera
moves between preset positions.
